Paris: Iris Clert / New York: Call for Travel, Inc., 1964. Travel brochure; single glossy sheet (13.5 x x 19 inches), folded into 8 panels (6.75 in. tall). Prospectus for the innovative "floating Biennale" (Jun. 15 - 23, 1964), curated by avant-garde Parisian gallerist Iris Clert. Setting sail from the Venice Biennale—after a five day anchored exhibition—the proposed 17 day cruise charted a course through the Greek islands, with up to 100 patrons joining Clert and a stable of un-named artists on the S.M. Galaxy. (A separate announcement card, not included here, offers a list of 20 exhibited artists, including Bury, Fontana, and Reinhardt). Notably, the cruise was "organized astrologically so that everything works out in the best conditions, under the sign of Venus." Text in both English and French, illustrated by black-and-white photos of the ship's interior, with the verso unfolding into a large map of the planned course. Accompanied by loose plan of the air-conditioned ship, with sectional views of its five decks. Minor rubbing; near fine. Scarce, with single OCLC record located (Tate).
