The Lone Ranger [Mail Art Work with Manuscript Letter].
New York, 1978. Manuscript letter, inscribed to verso of a Christian postcard, housed in plastic pouch (10 x 7 inches) with three affixed cowboy-related pins. An insightful mixed-media correspondence work sent from Martin Wong to his close friend John Rutter—co-founder of the Chirimoya art space in Eureka, CA—shortly after Wong moved to New York. Amidst homesick comments, and proposals for future projects, Wong makes tantalizing reference to his now-unaccounted-for "NY City Jazz Paintings." Fragment of original mailing envelope pinned to top of pouch, with 1978 postmark.
