New-York.
Paris: Fernand Nathan, 1949. First Edition. Small quarto. Illustrated with 127 gravure images of 1940s New York, 64 of which were photographed by Henri Cartier-Bresson, and constitute his first book. An exceptional document of the time. Despite a traditional layout, staid design, an emphasis on architectural images, it is remarkable that the book is not more widely collected, especially considering the Cartier-Bresson connection. Just about fine in plain printed wrappers in a near fine example of the striking dust jacket. Very nice copy of a perennially unsung book.
