New York: Da Capo Press, 1976. First Edition. 17 x 15 inches. Publisher's promotional poster for Hujar's haunting first book Portraits in Life and Death. The book pairs twenty-nine portraits of Hujar's Lower East Side friends with twelve portraits of semi-preserved 19th century Sicilians found in the catacombs of a Palermo church; poster is the same catacomb image used for the book cover. Printed on heavy stock paper. Very good condition. Poster has pinholes at the top corners, and tape marks at three corners; light handling marks and scattered light soiling (with some staining to the blank back side). There are a few vertical strips of light waviness near the center of the image, noticeable when viewing the poster from an angle; classic Hujar image presents nicely. Rare.
