A fine presentation copy, inscribed by the book's publisher, Rene Zuber, to publisher Nicholas Callaway and dated in 1978 when a young Callaway was a photo dealer working for Virigina Zabriskie in Paris. Collaboration between writer Jean Cocteau and photographer Pierre Jahan, whose images of broken, destroyed, or otherwise ravaged statuary ably capture the spirit of postwar Paris. (Parr / Badger, v1, 194-195). Binding a little split at the spine ends with loss at the head of the spine, a good to very good copy in printed French-folded wrappers.
