Buenos Aires: Arte Nuevo, 1956–7. First Editions. Small quartos. All six issues of the Argentinian art journal dedicated to the exploration of concrete and nonfigurative art. In addition, this set includes editor Manuel Alvarez's copy of Paul Klee: De l'Art Moderne, which he used to translate the essay for issues 3 and 3 of Arte Nuevo, as well as the original manuscript of that translation. Issues 1–4 were Alvarez's own copies, and issues 5 and 6 belonged to Argentinean painter Hugo de Marziani (each with his signature). All issues uniformly very good in stapled wrappers with moderate age toning, a few spots of soiling, and light chipping; the spines are delicate, with a few splits but still intact (issue 6 with a tape repair). An extremely rare collection; OCLC locates no complete sets of this journal.
