New York: Ryan McGinley, 2000. Limited Edition. Octavo. McGinley's first book, self-published, arguably one of the most important debuts of the new century. Number 83 of 100 hand numbered copies (this example on the front pastedown); SIGNED by McGinley and humorously inscribed: "Dear Michelle, / You're very cool for / a girl. You are possibly / the coolest girl I know / cause you don't take shit / from nobody and you say / what you want. Thanks / for saving my ass in / biology. / Love always, / Ryan." Images of the photographer's friends, comprised of Inkjet prints stuck together by double-sided tape. The book was sold at McGinley's first exhibition at 420 West Broadway, and copies were sent to galleries, magazines, and artists whom McGinley admired. (Parr / Badger, v3, 101). Tiniest of splits at the heel of the spine, light edge wear; near fine in photo-illustrated wrappers. Housed in a custom clamshell box.
