Tokyo: Sogetsu Art Museum / Committee of the Exhibition of Yayoi Kusama, 1992. First Edition. Quarto. Errata page laid in. Bound in a brilliant red fuzzy felt; silver stamped titles to front and spine. In the publisher's acetate jacket. SIGNED by Kusama and dated 1998 in red marker to the verso of the front endpaper. Catalogue to accompany an important retrospective, one of a number of exhibitions in the late 1980's and early 1990's, culminating with the Japanese Pavilion at the 1993 Venice Biennale, that brought Kusama back to the international attention that has only grown to this day. A beautiful production, copies were bound in a number of jewel-toned felts. Most likely produced in small numbers and not distributed internationally, the book is uncommon. Since 1977, Kusama has been a voluntary resident of the Seiwa Hospital for the Mentally Ill; books signed by her are rare. A touch of fraying and dustiness to the bottom edge of the felt boards, otherwise fine in an acetate jacket with wrinkling and some surface rubbing at the bottom of the front panel.
