Lynn, Massachusetts: Rumford Supply Co, 1906. Unique botany journal. An unbound, half leather, string tied portfolio containing twenty-six folded signatures, each with a unique dried, and pressed botany sample mounted with descriptive notations on the opposite page. The portfolio was manufactured as a blank notebook by the Rumford Supply Co. of Lynn, Massachusetts; an additional page of notebook paper laid-in with a numbered contents list and Marion Jackson's name signed. Jackson apparently assembled the plant samples, each of which is artfully arranged, pressed, and attached to the page with tiny mounts. Altogether, a charming and beautiful presentation. Most of the delicate botany samples are fully intact, but a few have come loose from the mountings. On most sheets, plants have stained the opposite page with an impression. Overall, an exceptionally preserved and artfully made object.
