Curated by John Coplans, the exhibit included work by Billy Al Bengston, Michael Frimkess, John Mason, Malcolm McClain, James Melchert, Ron Nagle, Manuel Neri, Kenneth Price, Henry Takemoto, and Peter Voulkos. Book design is credited to James Turrell. The exhibit was the first full-scale museum show to survey the revolutionary, expressionist work of mainly West Coast ceramists, led by Peter Voulkos.
