[Tokyo: Men’s Club], 1974. First Edition. Quarto. The September, 1974 issue of Monthly Men's Club, the long-running journal devoted to the recording, cataloging, and disseminating of Western men's clothing for a newly affluent generation of young Japanese consumers. Editors Teruyoshi Hayashida and Paul Hasegawa launched the Ivy movement in Japan, most notably through the publication of their landmark photobook "Take Ivy" in 1965. Men's Club however reverses the logic of Take Ivy; instead of only documenting young American college students on campus, Men's Club also dresses Japanese men in the Western clothing styles fetishized by the editors. This issue of Men's Club includes stories titled "Pure Ivy," "Blazer Game," "Tweed Comes Back," and "His and Her Trainer Look." Light wear to covers, else near fine in photo-illustrated wrappers.
