Athens: A New View Book, 1966. First Edition. Quarto. Number 176 of 850 numbered copies. SIGNED by Ford and inscribed to Edward Weisberger: "To Edward Weisberger / My first new friend of 1976 / Charles Henri Ford / NYC 1.i.76." One of the most ambitious American artists' books of the 60s, Spare Parts is comprised of a series of Ford's "Poem Posters" which directly reference Surrealist techniques, and which capitalize on Ford's experience in publishing, graphic design, and printing. Earthy, elegant and alternating sexual references with advertising come-ons, the "Poem Posters" were a particularly visual and outrageous form of concrete poetry, made up on the spot. Bottom edges and spine head a little worn; near fine in a near fine jacket with offsetting visible on the verso.
