Itinerant travelers, writers, and translators as well as visual artists, Beach and Peliéu are best-known for their involvement in Beat literary circles; they worked at City Lights Publishers, befriended Ginsberg, Ferlinghetti, and Burroughs, and eventually founded the imprint Beach Books, which distributed the first published texts of Bob Kaufman.
