Switzerland: Ink Tree, 2001. First Edition. Thin folio. Number 172 of an edition of 300 numbered copies, SIGNED, dated, and numbered by Christopher Wool. A series of 23 reproductions of high-contrast photocopies of Wool's Polaroids of his abstract canvases, which have been layered with superimposed swathes of black and white paint. Printed in a grainy Xerox aesthetic reminiscent of Wool's 1993 photobook Absent Without Leave, this collection elucidates the central role of photography to his artistic process and practice. Photography remains the least well understood and documented component of Wool's oeuvre; his long-standing relationship with photographing his own work is of seminal importance. Extreme tips of the top page edges lightly tapped, top rear cover gently bumped, else close to fine in white wrappers and folding card chemise with a faint crease mark to the back, housed in a matching card slipcase with some wear to the bottom corners.
