Matthew King: Paintings on Aluminum
Harper’s is delighted to present Matthew King: Paintings on Aluminum, an exhibition of new works staged in the gallery’s expanded space at 87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton. Paintings on Aluminum, King’s fourth presentation with the gallery, is a continuation of his investigations into the visual relationships between hard-edge abstraction and appropriated photography. The artworks on view will rotate throughout the duration of the exhibition, producing various iterations in the curatorial arrangement.
Matthew King (b. 1986, Boston, MA) received a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2010. Most recently, King’s work has been exhibited at Harper’s, New York and East Hampton (2021, 2019, 2018, and 2016); SPRING/BREAK Art Show, New York (2019); Eric Firestone Gallery, East Hampton (2019); and Skylab Gallery, Columbus, OH (2018), among others. His books, The Vanishing American (2016) and This Side Down (2015), were published by Harper’s. King currently lives and works in Boston.
