Absent Without Leave (Limited Edition with Print).
Berlin: DAAD, 1993. First Edition. Quarto. Special edition of 50 copies issued with a print (the trade edition was limited 1000 copies). Both the book and the print are stamped: "Absent without Leave / -Special Edition- / Christopher Wool / __/50." with handwritten edition number 10. Print is 3.5 x 5 inches, with "Kodalux Processing Services Sept 1993." printed on the back 160 black and white reproductions of travel photographs taken between 1989–1993, and published to look like photocopies; the original photocopies were exhibited at Wool's Guggenheim retrospective. The artist's apparent lack of concern for technical acumen belies not only his long and profound relationship with photography, but more importantly his creative virtuosity which also thrives on, if not redefines, this Provoke style paradigm. Faint foxing along the top page edges and margins of white covers and touch of soiling to the bottom page edges, else near fine in a near fine photographically illustrated dust jacket with a touch of rubbing at the corners. Print is in fine, excellent condition, housed in publisher's glassine envelope.
