Amsterdam: BUTT, 2003-2011. First Editions. Octavos. Issues 1 through 29 of BUTT Magazine, including issue 7, which was printed in New York rather than Amsterdam and in a different and much larger format. Started in 2001 by Jonkers and van Bennekom as a magazine "by, for and about homosexuals," and notable for contributions by nearly every gay photographer of the the time. Its first issue, with a Wolfgang Tillmans's photograph on the cover, BUTT in bold all-caps, and printed on pink newsprint, the self-proclaimed "fag mag" set out to transform not only the gay, but broader cultural aesthetics for a new generation. All volumes uniformly nearly fine, some issues with light fading to the extremities and a few tiny edge and corner tears.
